POLYTECH Partners with the University of Thessaly: A Successful Collaboration in Special Education

Date: March 11, 2014 – May 30, 2014
Location: University of Thessaly, Department of Special Education, Volos, Greece

POLYTECH is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its collaboration with the Department of Special Education at the University of Thessaly for the 2013-2014 academic year. The initiative, centered around the innovative use of the PCB 301 mobile laboratory, provided valuable hands-on experience to both university students and high school students from the 6th High School of Volos.

This partnership was greatly supported by Professor Dionysios Vavouyios, the Deputy President of the Special Education Department. His leadership and commitment to fostering this collaboration have been instrumental in its success. POLYTECH extends its heartfelt thanks to Professor Vavouyios and looks forward to working with him in future educational projects.

The PCB 301 mobile laboratory, provided by POLYTECH, was at the heart of this educational initiative. The Special Education Department proposed the creation of a dedicated workshop within the university, utilizing the advanced capabilities of the mobile lab. This workshop allowed future secondary school educators, along with high school volunteers, to explore the potential of the PCB 301 and gain practical knowledge in laboratory sciences.

Throughout the collaboration, students from various departments—Pedagogy, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and others—participated in visits to the PCB 301 lab. These hands-on sessions enabled them to explore the fields of Physics, Biology, and Chemistry at a deeper level, using real-world laboratory equipment. Students were able to evaluate the lab’s capabilities and enhance their understanding of the physical sciences.

As this academic year comes to a close, POLYTECH celebrates the positive impact of this initiative and looks forward to continuing its efforts to support education and innovation in collaboration with the University of Thessaly.
