Announcing the FP 311 CAN BUS Simulator: Enhancing Autotronics Education

Polytech is delighted to introduce its latest product, the FP 311 CAN BUS Simulator. This innovative simulator is a vital component of the FP300 laboratory, included in the LHP 304 – Autotronics Laboratory. The FP 311 offers a straightforward, cost-effective, and practical solution for understanding CAN-BUS technology, essential for modern automotive systems.

The FP 311 CAN BUS Simulator is designed to help students grasp the fundamentals of CAN-BUS technology. It simulates the basic operations of a CAN-BUS data network in a controlled environment, enabling students to learn about its performance and operation. Additionally, it helps develop diagnostic and fault-finding skills, crucial for modern automotive maintenance and repair. Teachers can create tasks that encourage students to explore the application of CAN-BUS networks in contemporary vehicles.

The FP 311 module is part of Polytech’s FP300 series of trainers and modules. This series includes various simulation electronic blocks that demonstrate, simulate, and train students in the autotronic technologies used in modern cars. The FP300 trainer comprises 12 different simulation modules (blocks) that cover all electrical systems of a vehicle, including analog and digital subsystems. One of these modules is the FP 311 CAN BUS module.

Key Features:

  • Educational Focus: Teaches the basics of CAN-BUS architecture and its application in modern automobiles.
  • Simulation and Training: Combines simulation of electrical signals with practical measurement using the FP300 application software.
  • Comprehensive Coverage: Part of a broader series that covers all electrical systems of a car.
  • Standalone Capability: Can be used independently as a standalone simulator.

In modern vehicles, each subsystem is controlled by its own Control Unit (CU). These CUs are interconnected through a special local area network called CAN (Controller Area Network). The CAN network’s open architecture allows any control unit to communicate with others, facilitating efficient and integrated vehicle operation.

The FP 311 block simulates this network, introducing students to CAN-BUS architecture basics. Like all FP300 series modules, it serves as both a simulator and a trainer. Students can simulate electrical signals and measure them using the FP300 software, while also measuring actual signals on the trainer boards of the FP300 series.

Polytech’s FP 311 CAN BUS Simulator is a cutting-edge educational tool that enriches autotronics education by providing hands-on experience with CAN-BUS technology. Whether used as part of the FP300 series or as a standalone simulator, the FP 311 equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in modern automotive diagnostics and repair.

Stay tuned for more innovations from Polytech as we continue to enhance educational tools and technologies for the automotive industry.
