Open Electrical Motors

The Open Electrical Motors laboratory offers a comprehensive, modular approach to teaching students about the components and assembly of electrical motors. Designed for both direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) motors, the lab provides hands-on training in understanding and testing the operational characteristics of these motors. Safety is a key priority, and the system is equipped with numerous features to prevent accidents. Through a series of detailed theoretical and practical exercises, students gain a solid foundation in electrical motor technology.

The Open Electrical Motors laboratory focuses on assembling and understanding electrical motors. This modular laboratory is designed to cover the entire spectrum of electrical motor components and operations, including both DC and AC motors. Students are guided through a step-by-step assembly process, gaining practical insights into the functioning of each component before conducting operational tests.

Open Electrical Motors 1 Electrical Machines Assembly

This kit includes all necessary components for assembling both DC and AC motors, allowing students to disassemble and reassemble parts to understand their functions deeply. The electric machines lab sets are provided assembled and can be disassemble at anytime during the coursework. All necessary auxiliaries and tools are provided with the equipment.

  • AC Assembly: includes a stator with 24 slots and 6 windings in order to change the pole number, 2 or 4; slip ring rotor with 18 slots (double layer winding) and squirrel cage rotor.
  • DC Assembly: includes a stator with 2 field poles (series, shunt and compound excitation windings) and 2 interchangeable poles; a rotor with 20 slots and 40 segments.

  2. OEM 3 Control Unit: Instruments for measuring voltage, current, and rotational speed. Includes:

    • speed meter (0–4000 rpm) with over-speed protection

  3. OEM 4 Loads Unit Allows the application of various loads to test motor performance and includes:
    • Resistors (3 x 15 Ohm, 100 W, 0–2 Ohm, 100 W)
    • Capacitors (3 x 80 μF, 150 V)
    • Rheostat (0–100 Ohm)
    • Power supply: 220V, 50/60 Hz

FP306 Fault Insertion Modules Necessary for creating and troubleshooting faults within the system.

The set includes all appropriate tools, brackets, and auxiliaries for easy assembly and disassembly. All required cables and leads for testing and experimentation are provided.
